A few weeks ago, I had to make some changes to this site. I was hoping to upgrade to Wordpress 2.3.3 (which I should have done much earlier), as well as add a few plugins to the site — most notably PicLens for portfolio purposes.
But being a coding n00b, I learned that upgrading wasn’t that easy. Before I could even add PicLens, I had to upgrade my PHP to version 5+. (Coding experts, laugh at me now while you can. Yes, I was running on some version below 5).
After upgrading to PHP 5, I ran into a ton of other errors, the worst of them being that I could no longer log in to my Wordpress account. So I immediately downloaded the newest Wordpress and uploaded it to my domain. In the process, I accidentally deleted all of my blog posts. You see, I had forgotten to back up all my files.
And after all of that, I still couldn’t log into my new Wordpress account. So, instead of adding 2.3.3 again by myself, I decided to wait for my hosting provider, GoDaddy, to have the appropriate tools to assist in setting it up. But because 2.3.3 was so new, they hadn’t yet written the code to set it up. So I had to wait a few weeks before setting up the blog again.
Long story short, I am in the process of restoring all my old blog posts (via cached versions), as well as adding some new features to the site, so I apologize for the lack of content. I hope to have it up again within the next two weeks. Unfortunately, the blog posts won’t be dated correctly, and there is no way to restore the comments (unless I put them there myself which would be pretty pathetic).
So as the title of this post says, Pardon the Dust.
Thanks!
