Well, this is my final update on the restoration of my old blog posts. And unfortunately, it’s not looking good.
I searched Google to find my posts — specifically the day-by-day posts from my “Intern” experience at SNDBoston. But all that was left on the web were a few cached versions posts (see image above), and most, if not all, were only portions of my writings, since I decided to add links to “read more” at the bottom.
So if you desperately want to know the story of my “Intern” experience, you can get bits and pieces of the story here. And if you want to check out all of my blog posts prior to it being erased from the Internet, go here. You won’t get the full story, but at least you’ll get a little bit of an idea what it was like.
And of course, you can always check out my SNDBoston Flickr photos (here and here), the Newsdesigner SNDBoston backchannel, and, yes, even a Youtube video of the Final Five contestants making their selections.

Hi Bridget
I really like your site! I’m having some trouble with my blog and was wondering if you could help me in some way?
I have a blog already but I would like to start a new one with the same theme as you. As far as I understand in order to get this theme you need to be hosted away from wordpress.com and take up a .org account? Or do you just have to pay for the custom css?. I have read much of the info but It’s hard to know where to start.
Would be of great interest to hear what you think I should do.
Will
@Will:
Thanks!
To get outside themes, you have to get your own domain. So, yes, you would have to be hosted away from Wordpress. You don’t necessarily need a .org account. Once you do that, the CSS is free.
Alternatively, you can pay Wordpress to customize the site and get your CSS of choice. But I would personally recommend getting the domain over purchasing that option. I mean, you might as well put the money into the domain rather than making a free account (with the .wordpress.org extension) look prettier.
Plus, if you get your own domain, it’s easier to customize things because you can just modify the CSS files and upload them immediately through an FTP client. I think you aren’t able to do that with a free Wordpress account.
Hope that helps!
I love this theme Bridget, and it galvanized me into self-hosting. There is one big challenge and that is customization. If you know no coding, this is a real issue. I am trying out free hosting first to see whether I can do it before I move my blog. I am not even sure I can squeeze my blog juice onto the new location, but I will try when the time comes. I have screwed up the codes for this wonderful theme so I will be reinstalling it to see whether my problem will be sorted out.
@Will, your blog will radiate when you get the unstandard theme, honest. Even non-image based blogs look wonderful on this theme. If you want to see how it is with self hosting, try freehostia.com. After that if you feel up to it, get a package for yourself.Goodluck.
